Happy Saturday, folks!
A guy walks into a bar with a pigeon on his head. The bartender says, "Can I help you?" The pigeon replies, "Yeah, you can get this guy off my butt!"
If you have a funnier pigeon joke (and I hope you do), please post it in the comments.
These unassuming city dwellers and dove wannabes have mastered the art of navigating urban landscapes. They strut around with a confidence that makes it seem like they own the place. I once saw a pigeon walk into a coffee shop as if it belonged there, probably checking if its name was on the loyalty card.
Take Tolik, my favorite pigeon that lives in the hood. He’s the quiet leader of his flock, ruling with a steady beak. Every morning, he perches on the railing of our fire escape while I sip my chifir, our daily routine unfolding in silent understanding.
One day, I watched as a tourist tossed a crumb, and Tolik’s flock swooped in, well-coordinated and efficient. But Tolik didn’t move. He’s a bird that understands the value of patience and rank.
Seagulls, on the other hand, are a whole ‘nuther ball of wax. They’re the bold, opportunistic scavengers of the skies. They’re not just after your chips; they take what they want, no matter how big, with a confidence that’s almost admirable.
I once saw a seagull, let’s call him Phil B., execute a perfect dive to snatch a bag of chips from a beach grandma. He swooped in, grabbed the bag, and was gone before she could yell — Po-DO-nok! (Scoundrel, in Russian).
These birds also have a way of making themselves heard. The calls of seagulls are a familiar sound by the coast, more of a jarring alarm than a melody. I once recorded their morning chorus—an ensemble that’s more chaotic than harmonious, but undeniably full of life.
So, let’s thank the Good Lord for pigeons and seagulls, the unexpected comedians that bring a bit of absurdity to our everyday life. They help us find humor in the mundane and to stay alert when enjoying a snack outdoors.
Seagulls and pigeons, both strut with flair,
One steals your fries, the other your chair!
That’s it for today. Light and feathery.

‘til next time.

I liked the Pidgin Joke
Enjoyed reading this piece Alex! Love the black and white sea gulls photograph. They looked like free spirits in form of birds!
